I reduced this to an instrumental piece when I began to feel shy of my lyrical intent. It was a song about misogyny and rejection, a lament from the singer’s point of view to the women he started out adoring. It made a valid point, and musically the chord sequence was quite strong, but my execution was maybe too heavy-handed and finally, I kept only the music. I just couldn’t picture singing those words in a sane frame of mind, least of all before an audience.
Musically, it adopts an unresolved motif for the ending, very much in the same vein as The Beatles’ For No One. Quite interesting.
