During ’83 and ’84, I was very much influenced by Martin Rushent-produced acts, such as Pete Shelley and Altered Images, and I decided that if I were to do a 12/8 synth lullaby, it ought to be as suave as Goodnight and I Wish or It’s Hard Enough Knowing, both of which I still admire immensely to this day. Walking was assembled from like-pieces over that period, and arranged entirely for synths.
