I started off writing it during the late months of ’88, whilst in my Paul Haig-influenced phase, and listening daily to songs like Big Blue World and The Only Truth. My real concern was that my song might end up too closely married to that style; I wanted to differentiate the melody to make it my own.
It was up on my sequencer when my cousin Daniel and his business partner Elie visited during the month of March, it was therefore all I could play for them of my newest work at the time.
When I got the chance to play M. a song that I had written for her, I felt somewhat actualized. It was the only one that I had pretty much knocked into shape before she left for home, back in July 1989.
