Image, Retained was begun some time in 1983, the fade section being used in Why, and the verse in 1985, temporarily entitled The Slow Order on my Black Noise/White Noise tape. It amazes me that it finally found a home. On June 19, 1991, a week into the Green Period (the Post-Europe-Lyrical) I assembled the pieces. Who knows what any of it really means, though, “I will retain a definitive image” is my claim to stand beside my image till the death.
