1993_0220 : Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch was one of my alternative titles for a piece that came to me in my sleep. I found myself writing the lead guitar line – a sort of Echo & the Bunnymen-like melody as I was waking up one morning in August. I found myself uttering lines like

I’ll help you do the things that nobody else would do
And I will do you just like nobody else will do

because I was trying to understand what it was that kept some people single and felt at that time that I would find the missing pieces and offer them to her when I had something she wanted.

The numerous references to obsession came a bit later, when I realized that nothing would easily drag me away from her. It is a song that symbolized the offer of limitless pleasure from one person to another.
